Posted: 09 Apr 2022 07:31 PM PDT

Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf du Plessis expressed happiness after his side thrashed Mumbai Indians in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 clash.

Inspiring knocks from Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli helped Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Saturday. “Really good (how it feels). Mumbai is a strong team. Bowling tonight was really good. Probably for 18 overs excellent batting, was some quality batting at the end there. Very happy standing here. Would’ve bitten your arm off surely (target of 152). There was something in it for the bowlers with the new ball. Rohit played some good shots, very valuable wicket to get him out,” said Faf du Plessis in a post-match presentation.

“Akash Deep was very good. Hold that back of a length with the seam standing up, there was something there. Brilliant bowling performance. I spoke about him before at the start of the tournament (Anuj Rawat). The potential that he has. Lots of conversations between the two of us,” he added.

RCB opener Anuj Rawat smashed 66 runs off 47 balls while former skipper Virat Kohli played a knock of 48 as they chased down the target of 152 with nine balls left. Earlier, RCB bowlers restricted five-time champions MI to 151/6. This is Mumbai Indians’ fourth successive loss in the Indian Premier League 2022.

Kerala CM Calls Shah’s Remarks On Hindi ‘Inappropriate’

Posted: 09 Apr 2022 07:28 PM PDT

Kannur (Kerala): Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday termed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on the Hindi language “inappropriate” saying that people cannot accept it if he is trying to impose Hindi on them.

“The statement made by Home Minister is inappropriate. If you try to impose Hindi on us by destroying the regional language, we cannot accept it. That will destroy the unity and oneness of the country,” the chief minister said reiterating that Shah’s comments on Hindi language were inappropriate.

Amit Shah on Thursday emphasised the need to accept Hindi as an alternative to English and not to local languages.

The Home Minister’s remarks came when he was presiding over the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary Official Language Committee here on the Parliament premises.

Vijayan said that such a move will affect the culture because Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu are like heartbeats for the people in their respective states.

“We should remember that earlier during Hindi Diwas celebration, they kept forward one country one language idea. There were protests from different parts of the country. The uniqueness of our country is the existence of different languages and cultures. Unity in Diversity,” he said.

He further said, “Constitution has given importance to different languages. Sangh Parivar’s agenda is not to accept the different cultures and religions. It’s their move to weaken the regional languages. This is the move to destroy the unity and oneness of the country.”

Trump Suggests He May Run In Next US Presidential Election

Former US President Donald Trump said he might run for president again, although there have not been any official announcements in that regard yet.

“The truth is I ran twice, I won twice, I did much better the second time than I did the first. And now, we may have to do it again. Is there anybody here who would like to see me run again?” Trump asked his supporters at the Saturday rally in Selma, North Carolina. Trump accused the administration of US President Joe Biden of “one disgraceful surrender after another” and reiterated that Russia would not have launched its special military operation in Ukraine under his administration. Trump also pointed out that the US has the strongest nuclear capabilities.

At the end of March, Trump told Fox Business that if he were still president, he would threaten Russia with nuclear submarines.

Poll data reported by The Hill earlier this month showed that Trump was ahead of both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in hypothetical presidential campaign matchups for 2024.

Beleaguered Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan lost the trust vote in the National Assembly in a late night vote after high political drama that saw Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly resigning from their posts after strong demands by opposition for completing the vote ordered by the Supreme Court.

“174 members have recorded their votes in favour of the resolution. Consequently, the resolution of no-confidence against Imran Khan, Prime Minister of Pakistan has been passed by a majority of the National Assembly,” said PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq who chaired the session. The crucial session of the house began at 10:30 am (11:00 IST) with Speaker Qaiser, a senior member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s party, in chair. Since then, the session was adjourned thrice for one reason or another.
Imran Khan tried to block a no-confidence motion last week and dissolved the lower house of parliament, but Pakistan’s top court ordered on Thursday the vote would have to be held by Saturday.

The Pakistani National Assembly had a total strength of 342 members, with the majority mark being 172. Anuj Rawat, Virat Kohli Star For RCB as MI Suffer Fourth Consecutive Loss

Posted: 09 Apr 2022 06:45 PM PDT

Inspiring knocks from Anuj Rawat and Virat Kohli helped Royal Challengers Bangalore defeat Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in their IPL 2022 match at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Saturday.

Chasing 152, RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat had a good start as they gathered 27 runs in the powerplay. du Plessis and Rawat took their side to the 50-run mark in just eight overs. The duo stitched a brilliant partnership of 50 runs and provided the Royals with great momentum.

Mumbai Indians got a breakthrough when Jaydev Unadkat dismissed du Plessis, who got caught by Suryakumar Yadav, after scoring 16 runs in the ninth over with the team’s total at 50/1. Rawat was then joined by Virat Kohli and kept the scoreboard moving for RCB. The duo kept scoring runs for RCB at a decent pace as their score read 61/1 at halfway of the match.

Jasprit Bumrah was brought back in the attack but could not do much as Anuj Rawat notched up his maiden half-century in 38 balls. The pair kept on hitting boundaries and sixes to take Bangalore’s total beyond the triple-figure mark in the 14th over. Kohli anchored the innings and kept on thrashing Mumbai bowlers at regular intervals.

The duo took the attack to MI bowlers for their rapid fifty-run partnership. After the 16th over RCB needed 30 runs.

MI removed both set batters Anuj and Kohli in next two overs but till then it was too late to make a comeback in the match. Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten to make sure that RCB cross the finish line without any further hiccups.
Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav smashed an unbeaten 68 to help Mumbai Indians reach 151/6 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

For the Challengers, Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga bagged wickets while Akash Deep was the most economical bowler of the lot.

Put into bat first, MI got off to a great start, scoring 49/0 in the powerplay. But RCB fought back well to reduce Mumbai Indians to 79/6.

The Challengers might have fancied their chances to restrict MI to a paltry total but Suryakumar had different ideas. The stylish batter played a gem of a knock, notching up his second successive fifty of the tournament. As a result of his innings, Mumbai managed to breach the 150-run mark.

Brief score: Mumbai Indians 151/6 (Suryakumar Yadav 68*, Rohit Sharma 26; Harshal Patel 2-23) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore 152/3 (Anuj Rawat 66, Virat Kohli 48; Jaydev Unadkat 1-30).
