Gujarat ATS, Coast Guard Catch Pak Ship With Rs 280Cr Heroin

Gandhinagar (Gujarat): Indian authorities on Monday apprehended a Pakistani ship on the Indian side of the Arabian sea near Gujarat, with the consignment of heroin worth Rs 280 crores.


The Pak ship named “Al-Haj”, with 9 member crew, was apprehended in a joint operation by Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Gujarat and India Coast Guard.

“In joint Ops with ATS Gujarat, India Coast Guard ships apprehended Pak ship Al Haj with 09 crew in the Indian side of the Arabian sea with heroin worth 280 crores. Boat being brought to Jakhau for investigation,” the PRO Defence Gujarat tweeted.


The boat is being brought to Jakhau for investigation.

Senior Congress Leader K Sankaranarayanan Passes Away At 89

Palakkad (Kerala): Senior Congress leader who served as the governor of six states, K Sankaranarayanan passed away in Palakkad on Sunday. He was 89 when he breathed his last at his residence.


The minister served as the governor of Maharashtra, Nagaland and Jharkhand.

Prior to K Sankaranarayanan’s appointment as governor, he was a four-time minister of various ministries in the Kerala government.

He also held additional charges of governor in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Goa.


K Sankaranarayanan was elected to the Kerala assembly at least four times.

He handled the portfolios of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development, Community Development, as well as Excise in a Congress-led government headed by K Karunakaran and A K Antony.


He was first elected to the 5th Kerala Legislative Assembly (KLA) from Thrithala, thereafter to the 6th KLA from Sreekrishnapuram to the 8th KLA from Ottappalam and to the 11th KLA from Palghat Constituency.


K Sankaranarayanan was also the Convener of the United Democratic Front (UDF) for 16 years.


Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed his condolences on the demise of K Sankaranarayanan.


“Express heartfelt condolences on the passing of senior Congress leader K Sankaranarayanan. He upheld a Nehruvian and secular outlook. He was a people-oriented politician. As governor, minister and legislator he undertook people-friendly measures, and stood for development,” tweeted CM.


Opposition leader V D Satheesan, Governor Arif Muhammad Khan and many other leaders from different walks also expressed their condolences.

‘Saamana’ Editorial Claims ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ Row Brainchild Of BJP

Shiv Sena in its mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ on Monday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in its desperation to oust the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government is orchestrating the ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ row.

“The recent ruckus stirred up by the BJP in the name of Hindutva cannot be supported…the BJP is behind this (controversy). They had planned to disturb the peace of Mumbai using (MP-MLA) Rana couple and everything happened on their instructions that outraged the Shiv Sena workers and the couple was not allowed to step outside their house,” the ‘Saamana’ editorial argued.

Slamming Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana for their changing political affiliations, ‘Saamana’ stated that “there is no assurance over the ideological affiliations of this couple”. MP Navneet Rana had opposed lawmakers who were taking oath in the name of Lord Ram in Parliament, it said, adding “it’s astonishing that today the BJP is dancing around at the behest of the said MP over the issues like ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ and other Hindutava issues”.

The editorial further argued that the “couple faked their caste certificates in order to contest the election from a reserved seat”.

“Mrs Rana contested the Lok Sabha election from Amravati on the basis of a fake caste certificate. Navneet Kaur Rana and her father Harbhajan Singh Kundless submitted fake documents for getting a caste certificate. Amravati Lok Sabha is a reserved seat and to contest election from that seat Rana got fake caste certificate,” said ‘Saamana’.

On Saturday, Amravati Lok Sabha MP Navneet Rana and her husband Ravi Rana, an MLA, had announced their plan to chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ outside ‘Matoshree’, the private residence of the state Chief Minster Uddhav Thackeray.

Following this, Shiv Sena workers protested outside the residence of Navneet and Ravi Rana in their bid to stop them from reaching the Chief Minister’s residence.
The Ranas have withdrawn their plan to chant ‘Hanuman Chalisa’ amid protests from Shiv Sena workers.

Meanwhile, Navneet Rana and Ravi Rana were sent to judicial custody on Sunday for 14-days by the Holiday and Sunday court of Metropolitan Magistrate, Bandra.
The MP-MLA couple’s application will be heard by the court on April 29. The Mumbai Police has asked them to file their say on the bail plea on April 27.

China Continues To Back ‘Zero COVID Policy’ Even As Cases Spike

As the COVID-19 outbreak continues to spread in more and more cities in China, questions are mounting over the country’s zero covid policy.

Mainland China reported 2,666 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 51 more deaths in the past 24 hours, the country’s National Health Commission said on Monday.

Of the new cases, 2,472 infections were reported in Shanghai while the rest of the cases were reported in 17 other provincial-level regions.

Chin has witnessed an increase in outbreaks across the country and the number of cases has grown rapidly.

Since the month of March, the number of local coronavirus cases has exceeded 500,000 with the epidemic emerging and rebounding in many places.

In an editorial published by the state media outlet Global Times, the newspaper stated that it is more important for China to adhere to the general policy of “dynamic zero” as the essence of this policy is high speed and accuracy.

The English language daily said the past experience has proven that the “dynamic zero” strategy which aims to tamp down the outbreak once it’s detected is effective and correct.

“Facing the Omicron variant which is featured by rapid spread, strong concealment, and a short incubation period, ‘fighting with speed’ is still the key to prevention and control,” the editorial said.

According to Global Times, some regions arbitrarily close off highways with the excuse of epidemic prevention and control, some impose “static management” even if no infections have been reported.

Other places prohibit farmers from farming even if there is no COVID-19 outbreak locally. “These practices are all twisting the dynamic zero-COVID policy,” the newspaper said. 

COVID-19: India Records 2,541 Fresh Cases, 30 Deaths

India’s COVID-19 count witnessed a slight dip as the country reported 2,541 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Monday.

On Sunday, India logged in 2,593 COVID-19 cases. With the new infections, the total cases in the country have gone up to 4,30,60,086 including 16,522 active cases. The active cases account for 0.04 per cent of the total cases.

Of the fresh cases recorded, Delhi accounts for 1,083 cases which is 57.37 per cent of the cases recorded in the country.

A single-day rise of 30 fatalities pushed India’s death toll to 5,22,223, the Government data added.

The Health Ministry also informed that as many as 1,862 recoveries were logged in the last 24 hours taking the count of total recoveries to 4,25,21,341. India’s recovery rate from COVID-19 is currently at 98.75 per cent.

Furthermore, the government data said that 83.50 crore total COVID-19 tests have been conducted so far of which 3,02,115 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. In these figures, a daily positivity rate of 0.84 per cent was observed in the country whereas the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 0.54 per cent.

On the vaccination front, as many as 187.71 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

You have to ensure one of the batter bats long but we have failed to do that in this tournament,” said Rohit Sharma in a post-match presentation.

“Some of the opposition players have done that and that has hurt us. [On if Tim David’s name was discussed] Looking at how the tournament has gone everything has come into the discussion. We want to make sure whoever gets a chance, they get a run in the XI. So we try not to make too many changes. Whoever plays should get enough opportunities, that’s how I look at it,” he added.

Malaysia Reports 4,006 New COVID-19 Infections, 8 New Deaths

Malaysia reported 4,006 new COVID-19 infections as of midnight Sunday, bringing the national total to 4,431,073, according to the health ministry.

There are seven new imported cases and 3,999 local transmissions, data released on the ministry’s website showed. A further eight deaths have been reported, bringing the death toll to 35,499.

The ministry reported 10,223 new recoveries, bringing the total number of cured and discharged to 4,320,822.

There are 74,752 active cases, 98 are being held in intensive care and 61 of those are in need of assisted breathing.

The country reported that 52,712 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday alone and 84.9 percent of the population have received at least one dose, 81.3 percent are fully vaccinated and 49 percent have received boosters.

Zelensky Meets Blinken, Austin In First High-Level US Visit To Ukraine Since Russian Invasion

US secretary of State Antony J Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, becoming the first senior US officials who have visited Ukraine since Russia launched its military operation in Kyiv on February 24.

“They (Blinken and Austin) are right now in Kyiv, talking to the president,” and “maybe something will be decided regarding how they can help,” Oleksiy Arestovich, an adviser to President Zelensky confirmed the news during an interview with a Russian lawyer and activist on YouTube. The US top diplomat and top defence official arrived in Kyiv on Sunday, The New York Times reported.

The US government has always backed Ukraine with financial aid and weapons and also helped in leading the international campaign of sanctions against Russia. But this visit has been called under pressure as recently several European officials including British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and the PM of Spain and Denmark have visited the country.

US officials did not announce their visit but it was Zelenskyy who revealed it in his speech on Saturday, saying that he would use this meeting to discuss the “military assistance we need.”

A few weeks after Russia started its military operation in Ukraine, the prime ministers of Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovenia travelled to Kyiv in March, which was kept under tight wraps, reported The New York Times.

Over the following weeks, they were followed by leaders of Britain, Lithuania, Latvia, Slovakia, Estonia, Spain and Denmark. Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, visited both Kyiv and Bucha, where journalists and investigators have found evidence of atrocities.

This is not the first time for America to visit the war zones unannounced, in Iraq and Afghanistan, the visit was typically not announced until after the official had arrived in the country and sometimes not even until after they had left, as reported by The New York Times.

Security concerns and contested airspace have still required leaders to make long journeys to reach Kyiv. The British government said that Johnson, whose visit in early April was unannounced, used several modes of transportation, including a train from eastern Poland.

The White House had ruled out sending Biden, citing not only the risk but Biden’s enormous security requirements. Senior cabinet officials such as Blinken and Austin travel with smaller entourages, according to The New York Times.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the US authorized new military assistance worth USD 800 million for Ukraine.

Notably, Russia launched a “special military operation” in Ukraine on February 24, which the West has termed an unprovoked war. As a result of this, the Western countries have also imposed several crippling sanctions on Moscow.

World Military Expenditure Surpasses USD 2tn; US, China, India Top Spenders

World military expenditure reached an all-time high of USD 2.1 trillion in 2021, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) said on Monday, adding that the top three largest spenders were the United States, China and India.

“Total global military expenditure increased by 0.7 per cent in real terms in 2021, to reach USD 2113 billion. The five largest spenders in 2021 were the United States, China, India, the United Kingdom and Russia, together accounting for 62 per cent of expenditure,” the Stockholm based said in a statement. “Even amid the economic fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic, world military spending hit record levels,” said Dr Diego Lopes da Silva, Senior Researcher with SIPRI’s Military Expenditure and Arms Production Programme. “There was a slowdown in the rate of real-terms growth due to inflation. In nominal terms, however, military spending grew by 6.1 per cent.”

As a result of the economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, defence spending amounted to 2.2 per cent of global GDP, while in 2020 this figure reached 2.3 per cent.

US military spending reached USD 801 billion in 2021, a drop of 1.4 per cent from 2020, the statement said. In the period from 2012 to 2021, the US increased funding for military research and development by 24 per cent and reduced spending on arms purchases by 6.4 per cent, according to the statement.

Second place went to China, which spent USD 293 billion on defence, an increase of 4.7 per cent compared with 2020. India’s military spending ranked third with USD 76.6 billion last year, an increase of 0.9 per cent in comparison with 2020.

According to the Stockholm based institute, India’s military spending of USD 76.6 billion ranked third highest in the world. This was up by 0.9 per cent from 2020 and by 33 per cent from 2012. In a push to strengthen the indigenous arms industry, 64 per cent of capital outlays in the military budget of 2021 were earmarked for acquisitions of domestically produced arms.

The UK spent $ 68.4 billion on defence last year, up by three per cent from 2020, the statement read.

Meanwhile, Russia took the fifth slot with the highest defence spending.
“Russia increased its military expenditure by 2.9 per cent in 2021, to USD 65.9 billion, at a time when it was building up its forces along the Ukrainian border. This was the third consecutive year of growth and Russia’s military spending reached 4.1 per cent of GDP in 2021,” the statement said.

In 2021, high energy prices helped Russia to increase its military spending, Lucie Beraud-Sudreau, Director of SIPRI’s Military Expenditure and Arms Production Programme, said, adding that between 2016-2019 Russia experienced a decrease in the military spending due to low prices of oil and gas as well as sanctions imposed on Russia.

BJP Delegation Leaves For Delhi To Meet Union Home Secy Over ‘Attack’ On Kirit Somaiya

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) delegation left for Delhi on Monday morning to meet Union Home Secretary over an alleged ‘attack’ on Kirit Somaiya by Shiv Sena workers in Maharashtra.

The BJP delegation includes MLA Mihir Kotecha, MLA Amit Satam, MLA Parag Shah, MLA Rahul Narvekar, Vinod Mishra and Kirit Somaiya. They will meet the Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla at North Block, Delhi. Somaiya claimed that he was injured in the alleged stone-pelting incident by the Shiv Sena workers in Mumbai on Saturday.

In a series of Twitter posts, Somaiya said, “Heavy stone-throwing at Khar Police Station by Shiv Sena goondas (goons), my car window glass broken, I am injured, rushing to Bandra police station.”

“I am shocked, in the presence of 50 police persons, on the campus of Khar police station, Shiv Sena’s 100 goondas assault me with stones. Wanted to kill me. What the Police Commissioner is doing? How are so many mafia Sena goondas allowed to gather in the police station?” he said in another tweet.

Earlier, Somaiya had visited Khar Police Station to meet Amravati MP Navneet Rana and her husband MLA Ravi Rana who were arrested on Saturday.

Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis condemned the attack on the BJP leader Kirit Somaiya and requested the Centre to take action against concerned officials.

“An attempt was made to attack Kirti Somaiya outside a police station in Mumbai last night. We will request Central Government to take action against concerned officials,” Fadnavis said.

PM Modi To Inaugurate 7th Edition Of Raisina Dialogue Today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the seventh edition of the Raisina Dialogue, India’s flagship multilateral foreign policy and geo-economics conference today.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the dialogue, which will be held over three days from April 25 to April 27, will witness the participation of European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen as the chief guest.

The Raisina Dialogue 2022, based on the theme “Terranova- Impassioned, Impatient, Imperilled”, will be modelled along six thematic pillars –Rethinking Democracy: trade, technology and ideology; End of Multilateralism: a networked global order; Water Caucuses: turbulent tides in the Indo-Pacific; Communities Inc: first responders to health, development, and planet; Achieving Green Transitions: common imperative, diverging realities; Samson vs Goliath: the persistent and relentless technology wars.

The Raisina Dialogue, which started in 2016, is India’s premier conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics committed to addressing the most challenging issues facing the global community. The conference is organised by MEA in collaboration with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

The dialogue, which was held virtually last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, will be held in in-person format this year.

“Raisina Dialogue 2022 will have around 100 sessions with over 210 speakers from 90 countries. There will be side events that will be hosted in Berlin and Washington. Raisina young fellows programme will also be conducted on the sidelines of this main conference,” said MEA Spokesperson, Arindam Bagchi.

The MEA spokesperson further said that the conference will most likely be attended by former PM of Sweden Carl Bildt, former Canada PM Stephen Harper, former Maldives President Mohamed Nasheed and former Australia PM Anthony Abbott.

“We will also be counting on a pre-recorded message from the President of United Nations General Assembly Abdulla Shahid,” added Bagchi.

In terms of the participation of foreign ministers, the MEA spokesperson informed that the foreign ministers of Argentina, Armenia, Guyana, Nigeria, Norway, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Portugal and Slovenia will be attending the event.

He further said that the Australian foreign minister may also join the conference virtually.

Bagchi said that the foreign ministers, during their visit to India, will also have official engagements with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

DK Shivakumar Slams Karnataka Govt Over PSI Scam

Amid the row over the police sub-inspector (PSI) recruitment scam, Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar on Sunday slammed Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai for allegedly misleading people over the issue.

Asked about the PSI scam, the Congress leader said, “Is congress ruling in the state? Why did the Home Minister and Chief Minister say in the assembly that no mistakes happened in PSI recruitment? He (Bommai) should also be held responsible for lies.

Why did he give the case to CID Now?” The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained the main accused in the Karnataka PSI scam Rudragowda D Patil from Maharashtra and brought him to its office late Saturday night.
The case is related to the irregularities in the appointment of police sub-inspectors in the state.

Earlier on Saturday, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai had said everything related to the PSI recruitment scam will be thoroughly investigated, and action will be taken against those found guilty.

The Chief Minister further informed that he has instructed the CID to speedy and transparent investigation.

“Officials were instructed to conduct a thorough preliminary investigation immediately after getting the complaint about irregularities. The case was handed over to CID when differences were noticed in answer scripts. Instructions have been issued for speedy and transparent investigation without wasting the time. Heads of educational institutions in Kalaburagi have been questioned. The head of Jnanajyothi School is absconding. The search is on to nab him,” the Chief Minister had said.

The candidates who passed the exam too would be questioned and a thorough investigation would be conducted, Bommai said.

World Leaders Congratulate Macron As He Secures Second Term As President

Western leaders congratulated Emmanuel Macron for winning the French presidential election with 58.8 per cent of the votes on Sunday (local time).

In a congratulatory message, European Council President Charles Michel said, “We can count on France for five more years.” Taking to Twitter, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz shared a photo with Macron and said, “I am happy that we will continue our good cooperation.”

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson called France “one of our closest and most important allies”.

“Congratulations to @EmmanuelMacron on your re-election as President of France. France is one of our closest and most important allies. I look forward to continuing to work together on the issues which matter most to our two countries and to the world,” Johnson tweeted.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was “looking forward to continuing our work together on the issues that matter most to people in Canada and France — from defending democracy, to fighting climate change, to creating good jobs and economic growth for the middle class”.

Spain Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez said that the citizens have chosen a France committed to a “free, strong and fair EU”.

World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he looked forward to continuing the “important partnership” between France and WHO for a “healthier, safer and fairer world”.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated Macron on winning the French presidential election.

Macron on Sunday (local time) won the French Presidential election defeating far-right leader Marine Le Pen.

After winning the election, Macron spoke near the Eiffel Tower in Paris and thanked his supporters who voted for him.

Macron said that he will be president for all French citizens, including supporters of his rival Marine Le Pen, the leader of the right-wing National Rally party.

“From the very beginning, I ask you not to boo anyone, because from now I am not a candidate from one party, but a president for all [citizens],” Macron said, according to Sputnik.

With the two medals on the final day of the meet, India finished with a total tally of 17 medals, one gold, five silvers and 11 bronze, at the Mongolian capital.

Star Indian wrestler Deepak Punia grabbed the men’s freestyle 86kg silver medal Viky bagged a bronze in the 92kg category at the Asian Wrestling Championships 2022 in Ulaanbaatar on Sunday.

Tokyo Olympic medallist Ravi Kumar Dahiya won the solitary gold in the men’s 57kg weight class. Tokyo Olympian Deepak Punia started his campaign with a 6-0 win over Iranian grappler Mohsen Miryousef Mostafavi Alanjagh before defeating South Korean Olympian Kim Gwanuk 5-0 in the semi-finals.

Kazakhstan’s Azamat Dauletbekov got better of Punia in the gold medal match with a scoreline of 6-1. With this Indian grappler had to settle for a silver medal at the Asian meet for the second consecutive year.

In the 92kg competition, India’s Viky defeated Uzbek grappler Ajiniyaz Saparniyazov by 5-3 in the bronze medal match.

KL Rahul Equals Rohit Sharma’s Record For Most Centuries By Indian Player In T20 Cricket

KL Rahul on Sunday equalled the record of Rohit Sharma for scoring the most centuries by an Indian cricketer in the T20 cricket.

KL Rahul achieved this feat in match number 37 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants here at Wankhede Stadium. LSG skipper smashed an unbeaten 103 against five-time champions MI to guide his team to a total of 168. This is Rahul’s second century in the IPL 2022 and both have come against the same opponents.

On April 16, Rahul smashed his first unbeaten ton (103) of IPL 2022 against MI. Lucknow won that contest comfortably by 18 runs.

KL Rahul now has six centuries in T20 cricket, same as his Mumbai Indians counterpart and India captain Rohit Sharma.

The duo is followed by Virat Kohli who has five centuries. Suresh Raina completes the top-4 with four tons against his name in the shortest format of the game.

IPL 2022: KL Rahul’s Ton Guides LSG To 36-Run Win As MI Suffer 8th Consecutive Defeat

KL Rahul’s unbeaten knock of 103 and Krunal Pandya’s three-wicket haul guide Lucknow Super Giants to a 36-run win against Mumbai Indians here at the Wankhede Stadium. Rohit Sharma led Mumbai lost their eighth consecutive match of the season.

Chasing 169 for victory five-time champions Mumbai Indians got off to a steady start as Rohit Sharma batted aggressively but wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan batted a bit too cautiously as the duo scored 43 runs in six overs of powerplay. Leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi was introduced into the attack and he dismissed Ishan Kishan in the very first ball of his spell for 8 off 20 balls as Mumbai Indians lost their first wicket for 49.

Dewald Brevis joined his captain Rohit Sharma and the duo took the team’s total beyond the 50-run mark in the eighth over. In the next over Brevis was sent packing by left-arm medium-pacer Mohsin Khan for 3 as Mumbai lost their second wicket for 54.

In the next over MI were dealt with a huge blow as Krunal Pandya got the prized scalp of Rohit Sharma for 39 off 31 balls. Ayush Badoni was introduced into the attack and he got the important wicket of dangerous Suryakumar Yadav for 7 to leave Mumbai tottering at 67/4.

Mumbai Indians desperately needed a partnership and Tilak Varma and Kieron Pollard did exactly that taking the team’s total beyond the triple-figure mark in 15.1 overs but the required rate kept increasing.

Tilak-Pollard’s partnership of 57 runs was broken by Jason Holder as he dismissed Tilak Varma for 38 from 27 balls and Mumbai lost half of its side for 124 runs.

Mumbai Indians needed a mere impossible 39 runs to win off the last over of the match where Krunal Pandya dismissed Pollard for 19. One ball later Jaydev Unadkat was run out for 1 and Krunal took his third wicket of the match dismissing Daniel Sams for 3 as Mumbai were restricted to 132/8 in 20 overs falling 36 runs short of the target and succumbing to their eighth defeat of the season.

Earlier in the day being put in to bat Lucknow Super Giants openers Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul gave their side a steady start. Jasprit Bumrah gave Mumbai the first breakthrough by dismissing wicket-keeper batter de Kock for 10 as LSG lost their first wicket for 27.

Manish Pandey walked in to bat and gave support to his skipper KL Rahul at the other end to take the team’s total beyond the 50-run mark in the 9th over.

Skipper Rahul tried scored runs at a brisk pace in order to boost the current run rate and in the process reached his half-century. The Pandey-Rahul partnership of 58 runs was finally broken by Kieron Pollard as Lucknow lost their second wicket for 85 runs.

Marcus Stoinis joined Rahul and the skipper took LSG beyond the triple-figure mark in 12.2 overs. Daniel Sams dismissed dangerous Stoinis for a duck as Lucknow lost their third wicket for 102. In the next over Krunal Pandya was dismissed by Pollard for 1 who became his second victim reducing LSG to 103/4.Deepak Hooda too failed to perform with the bat as he was dismissed by Riley Meredith for 10 as Lucknow lost half of its side for 121.

KL Rahul kept on hitting boundaries and sixes to take Lucknow’s total beyond the 150-run. Rahul went on to score his second century of the season and his fourth in IPL overall.

Ayush Badoni was dismissed for 14 in the 20 over by Meredith as LSG scored 168/6 in 20 overs.
